WWE Hall of Famer Glenn Jacobs, famously known to wrestling fans as Kane, has emerged as a potential candidate for appointment to a United States Senate seat in Tennessee.

According to a report from Axios, Jacobs is being viewed as a top contender to fill Senator Marsha Blackburn’s seat, should she win the state’s gubernatorial race in November. Blackburn has stated she intends to remain in her Senate seat until she is officially sworn in as governor, leaving the subsequent appointment directly in her hands.

While discussions remain early, Blackburn’s campaign manager Abigail Sigler emphasized that official discussions regarding a replacement will not take place until after the November elections.

Alongside Jacobs, other names linked to the potential vacancy include U.S. Representatives Tim Burchett—who preceded Jacobs as Knox County mayor—and Chuck Fleischmann.

Mayoral Tenure: Jacobs recently concluded his tenure as Knox County mayor on September 1, hitting term limits after serving two four-year terms following victories in August 2018 and August 2022.
Donald Trump Endorsement: Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social in May to praise Jacobs, stating that the former WWE Champion has a “big political future in Tennessee.”
Term Length: Any appointee would hold the U.S. Senate seat until a statewide special election in 2028, with the winner completing the remainder of Blackburn’s term through 2030.
