WWE Sets Combined SmackDown/RAW Taping for Cleveland on August 28

WWE is making a notable scheduling shift for the end of August, as the company will tape both SmackDown and RAW on the same night in Cleveland. Rocket Arena has confirmed that the Friday, August 28 SmackDown event will also include a full episode of RAW being taped at the venue. This change follows WWE’s decision to postpone the originally scheduled August 31 RAW in Charlotte, North Carolina. That show has now been moved to February 2027 and will instead be a SmackDown taping.

The adjustment appears to be part of a broader plan to give WWE talent and crew some time off around the start of September. The SmackDown event scheduled for Cincinnati on September 4 has been canceled, and WWE has not yet announced when or where the replacement episode will be filmed.

WWE adjusts late‑August and early‑September schedule

Labor Day weekend will still feature a major WWE event. On Sunday, September 6, WWE will present a Sunday Night’s Main Event special in Atlanta. After that, the company heads to Birmingham, Alabama for RAW before beginning a tour of Mexico and South America.

WWE has used combined tapings before when adjusting its production calendar. The company recently held a joint RAW/SmackDown taping in Atlantic City to pre‑tape the July 3 edition of SmackDown. The Cleveland taping follows the same pattern, allowing WWE to bank content ahead of a busy stretch of travel.

Fans in Cleveland will get a rare opportunity to see two major WWE shows filmed in one night. The combined taping also helps WWE manage its production workload as it prepares for international travel and a packed fall schedule.
