After Waller tore into the men’s division with one of the harshest promos the brand has seen in months, rising star Saquon Shugars wasted no time firing back on social media.
Waller’s promo targeted the entire NXT men’s roster. He claimed the division had become “soft, lazy, complicit and happy to be here,” arguing that only ten percent of the roster was ready for a main roster call‑up. He added that those performers were all part of the women’s division, saying the women were “running laps” around the men. Waller also accused talent of getting comfortable after signing with WWE, focusing more on their social media image than improving in the ring.
Shugars responds to Waller’s criticism
After the show, Shugars posted his response on X, sharing Waller’s promo and calling out the SmackDown star directly.

Shugars dismissed Waller’s comments and defended the NXT locker room, saying Waller “couldn’t lace Duke Hudson’s boots.” His message made it clear he wasn’t buying Waller’s claims about the division’s work ethic or hunger.
Waller’s promo also highlighted his own frustrations. He said the last two years of his main roster run had been wasted despite being in the best shape of his life. He returned to NXT declaring his intention to win the NXT Championship and insisted the men’s division was “ripe for the taking.”
Whether Waller’s comments motivate the roster or create more enemies remains to be seen. What’s already obvious is that he rattled more than cages — and Saquon Shugars wasn’t afraid to say so.
