AEW Files Trademark for Death’s Door Match Name Following Forbidden Door 2026

All Elite Wrestling has taken steps to secure the rights to a new match concept introduced at Forbidden Door 2026. The company officially filed to trademark “Death’s Door” on June 29, shortly after debuting the stipulation during one of the event’s featured bouts.

The match, promoted as a “Death’s Door” steel cage encounter, saw Team Briscoe defeat Team DCMJF in a multi-man contest. The structure used for the match stood out due to its rounded design and the extra space between the ring and the steel cage. This marked the first time AEW used the “Death’s Door” name for a stipulation.

According to the filing, the trademark covers multiple entertainment-related categories. These include wrestling contests, live professional wrestling performances, and the production of wrestling programming and events. The application signals AEW’s intent to continue using the concept moving forward.

AEW Death’s Door Trademark Details and Match Outcome

Team Briscoe was made up of Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita, and Darby Allin. They secured the win over MJF and The Don Callis Family. MJF’s side included Kazuchika Okada, Andrade El Idolo, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, and Jake Doyle.

The match featured a key moment when Andrade El Idolo turned against both MJF and The Don Callis Family during the contest. That development played a role in the final outcome, as Team Briscoe capitalized on the situation to score the victory.

As a result of the win, Mark Briscoe earned a future AEW World Championship opportunity. He is now scheduled to challenge MJF for the title on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday, July 1. The match will take place in San Diego, California and is set to open the broadcast.

AEW’s decision to file for the “Death’s Door” trademark suggests that the stipulation could become a regular feature in the promotion’s match lineup following its debut at Forbidden Door 2026.
