The second match on the main card of Double or Nothing 2026 saw Konosuke Takeshita challenge Kazuchika Okada for the AEW International Championship in a bout that carried tension beyond the title itself.
Both men entered the match as members of the Don Callis Family, with Don Callis watching closely from commentary. Despite the shared alliance, the competitive edge between Takeshita and Okada was clear throughout the match.
Takeshita ultimately secured the victory, capturing the AEW International Championship and becoming a two-time titleholder. However, the situation escalated immediately after the match during an in-ring confrontation involving the rest of the faction, including Rocky Romero and Mark Davis.
The moment took a dramatic turn with the return of Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher entered the ring and came face-to-face with Okada before the rest of the group backed away, creating a tense standoff. He then shifted his attention to Takeshita, initially embracing him and raising his hand while presenting him with the championship.
That show of support quickly proved deceptive.
Fletcher suddenly clotheslined Takeshita, dropping the newly crowned champion. He followed up with a brainbuster as Romero and Davis held Takeshita in place. The assault continued as Fletcher struck him with the championship belt, leaving Takeshita laid out moments after his victory.
The post-match angle confirmed a major shift within the group, as Takeshita is now officially out of the Don Callis Family.
Outside of AEW, Takeshita continues to hold the NJPW World Television Championship. Earlier in May, he aligned himself with the Hontai faction during Wrestling Dontaku, adding another layer to his ongoing career developments across promotions.
With a new title, a faction split, and a betrayal from a returning ally, Takeshita’s situation has quickly become one of the most talked-about developments coming out of Double or Nothing 2026.
