Update on Chad Gable In-Ring Return – Chad Gable could be on the verge of returning to WWE action after months away due to injury.
Gable has not wrestled since the June 17 taping of WWE Speed, where he was defeated by El Grande Americano. Just days later, on the June 23 episode of RAW, he was written off television when Penta delivered a vicious arm-breaker during a backstage segment. It was later revealed that Gable had suffered a rotator cuff injury requiring surgery, sidelining him for the remainder of the summer.
PWInsider is now reporting that Gable is expected at the WWE Performance Center this week to begin working toward medical clearance. His presence at the facility would mark the first major step in his recovery process and could signal that his in-ring return is approaching.
In July, Gable spoke publicly about the injury while attending a Minnesota Twins baseball game. With his arm in a sling, he explained how the setback gave him rare time away from the road. “I have a little injury to my rotator cuff. But what it did do was buy me some time off the road to be home with my family and do stuff like this, go to a baseball game on a Sunday which I never get to do. So find the bright side, right?”
Leading up to his injury, Gable had been working under two personas — competing both as himself and under the El Grande Americano gimmick. Following his surgery, Ludwig Kaiser is widely believed to have taken over the Americano character. Kaiser, wrestling under the mask, dropped the WWE Speed Championship to Jasper Troy last Tuesday at NXT Gold Rush, further fueling speculation about when Gable might reclaim the role.
Gable’s potential return comes at a time when WWE’s roster is in flux, with several stars returning from injury and others debuting new characters. His versatility as both a technical standout and a comedic performer has made him a valuable asset to WWE programming, and fans have been eager to see him back in action.
While no official timetable has been announced, Gable’s expected presence at the Performance Center suggests that WWE is preparing for his comeback sooner rather than later. Whether he resumes his run as El Grande Americano or returns under his own name, his return would add depth to RAW roster.
For now, the WWE Universe will be watching closely as Gable takes the next step in his recovery, with hopes that the former Olympian will soon be back in the ring delivering the high-level performances he’s known for.
