The first match of the night saw Rusev score a major victory over Damian Priest. The two powerhouses opened with a physical exchange, trading strikes and grapples before Rusev gained control with a spinning heel kick and several punishing suplexes. Priest rallied back with his signature offense, including a leaping flatliner and Broken Arrow, but Rusev’s resilience proved too much. After escaping South of Heaven, Rusev delivered a thumb to the eye and a devastating thrust kick to seal the win and advance to the next round.
In the second tournament bout, Sheamus battled Shinsuke Nakamura in a hard-hitting encounter that showcased both men’s striking ability. Nakamura targeted Sheamus’ neck and back with precision kicks, while Sheamus responded with brute strength and punishing power moves. The Celtic Warrior survived a late surge from Nakamura, countering Kinshasa with a perfectly timed Brogue Kick for the pinfall victory.
With these wins, Rusev and Sheamus move closer to a shot at facing Cena in what will be his final WWE match. The tournament continues next week, featuring Je’Von Evans taking on the returning GUNTHER, while Solo Sikoa is set to face a mystery opponent.
The Boston crowd erupted throughout the night as Cena’s farewell tour gained momentum, with fans eager to see who will ultimately challenge the legendary 16-time world champion for the Intercontinental Title in his final battle.
