WWE Ends 15-Year Post-Christmas Madison Square Garden Tradition – WWE is bringing an end to a holiday tradition that has been part of its live event schedule for more than a decade. According to a report from WrestleVotes, the company will not hold its annual post-Christmas live event at Madison Square Garden this year.
Since 2009, WWE has run an untelevised house show at MSG every December 26, a fixture that became a favorite for both fans and talent during the holiday season. However, the 2025 holiday tour will instead see the company run a live event in Baltimore, Maryland, on that date. The change is notable given the history and prestige associated with the Garden, which has long been considered WWE’s most iconic venue.
While the December 26 tradition is ending, WWE is not stepping away from MSG entirely. On November 17, Monday Night RAW will emanate from the arena, highlighted by John Cena’s final appearance there as part of his ongoing farewell tour. That event is expected to be one of the year’s most emotional moments at the “World’s Most Famous Arena.”
The decision reflects WWE’s broader shift in its approach to live events. In recent years, the company has scaled back its domestic non-televised house shows, giving talent more time away from the road. Many wrestlers have spoken positively about the reduced schedule, and this adjustment to the holiday tour appears consistent with that philosophy.
Still, the cancellation of the post-Christmas MSG show marks the end of a 15-year tradition. The annual event was known for delivering unique matchups, surprise appearances, and a festive atmosphere that set it apart from regular shows. For many fans in the Northeast, it was a yearly highlight that provided a chance to see WWE live during the holidays.
