8/29 WWE SmackDown Viewership Hits All-Time Low – WWE SmackDown on August 29 set an unfortunate milestone, recording the lowest total viewership ever for a non-preempted episode of the show.
According to Wrestlenomics, SmackDown averaged 1.147 million viewers, down from the 1.258 million viewers who tuned in the previous week. The 18–49 demographic also saw a sharp drop, drawing a 0.28 rating compared to last week’s 0.35.
The broadcast opened with Logan Paul cutting an in-ring promo that was interrupted by John Cena. The two exchanged words to further build excitement for their Clash in Paris showdown later that weekend.
In tag team action, The Street Profits picked up a victory over Melo Don’t Miz, securing themselves a WWE Tag Team Championship match against the Wyatt Sicks. Alexa Bliss also made her presence felt, scoring a singles win over Chelsea Green.
The main event saw a major title change as Sami Zayn defeated Solo Sikoa to capture the WWE United States Championship for the first time in his career. Sikoa’s reign ended at 62 days, during which he made two successful defenses.
Despite the historic low in numbers, the episode featured several notable segments and developments, including the high-profile Cena–Paul confrontation and Zayn’s championship victory.
