Jim Ross Hopes Chris Jericho Stays in AEW Amid WWE Return Speculation – Jim Ross has weighed in on the growing speculation about Chris Jericho’s future in professional wrestling, particularly the rumors of him leaving AEW for a return to WWE once his current deal is up. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross shared both his admiration for Jericho and his perspective on what a move back to WWE could mean.
When asked if fans would welcome Jericho with a big reaction should he reappear in WWE, Ross had no doubt. “Oh God, yeah. He’s got a great following. He’s always treated his fans respectfully, his quality of work maintains itself. People want to see more of him. He’s smart as a whip. He’s a real businessman.”
Ross then addressed the possibility of Jericho leaving AEW. While acknowledging Jericho’s star power, he made it clear he hopes the veteran stays with the company. “I’ve said this before, I hope that he doesn’t leave AEW. We need him. We can use his skill-set. His leadership. I see him countless times talking to some kid in the corner and talking about their character or their presentation. He’s got time for everybody and he’s smart as hell. He’s a student of the game in the true sense of the word. He’s a born coach.”
Jericho has been a cornerstone of AEW since its launch in 2019, serving as both the company’s first World Champion and one of its most recognizable names. His leadership role behind the scenes has been well-documented, and Ross emphasized just how valuable that guidance remains.
While the idea of Jericho returning to WWE to close out his Hall of Fame career continues to circulate, Ross’s comments underline how important he still is to AEW’s growth and locker room culture.
