Kenny Omega Confirms Time Away from AEW Following Dynamite Angle – Kenny Omega is stepping away from AEW television after being written off Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
Fightful Select reported that Omega’s absence was planned months in advance, with sources confirming he had arranged time off around this period. The former AEW World Champion has a trip to Japan scheduled and is also dealing with long-standing physical issues. While it had been noted that Omega has been wrestling through pain, sources emphasized this has been his reality for years, and he is well aware it will continue going forward.
Omega himself addressed the situation on X, confirming he will be taking time away for medical purposes. “I have upcoming specialized hospital visits and work that had been planned for a year,” Omega wrote. “I’m just trying to improve what I can and represent the company in a positive way while not performing.”
On Dynamite, the angle to remove Omega from television played out when Kyle Fletcher delivered a brutal brainbuster off the apron and through a table at ringside. The attack left Omega stretchered out of the arena, signaling his temporary exit from AEW programming.
While the timeline for his return has not been disclosed, Omega made it clear that this is not an indefinite departure but a necessary step to focus on his health and recovery before resuming his role in AEW.
