JBL Joins Commentary Team for AAA TripleMania XXXIII – JBL is set to make a surprise return to AAA, joining the commentary booth for the promotion’s biggest annual event, TripleMania XXXIII, alongside WWE’s Corey Graves and lucha legend Konnan. The event takes place this Saturday, August 16, in Mexico City and will stream live for free on AAA’s official YouTube channel.
Speaking on the latest Something to Wrestle With podcast with Conrad Thompson, JBL expressed his excitement for the opportunity, calling it a special honor to work on such a historic stage. He revealed that WWE reached out to invite him for the appearance, and he eagerly accepted.
“I’m proud to announce that I’m going down to Mexico City this weekend,” JBL said. “I’ll be doing commentary with Corey Graves for the entire TripleMania. Whether I’m your favorite commentator or not, this is groundbreaking news. It’s not a contract, just an engagement, but I’m thrilled to be part of it.”
JBL’s history with AAA dates back to the early 1990s, when he first wrestled for the promotion. During the podcast, he spoke fondly of his connection to Mexican wrestling, its leadership, and its stars. He praised Dorian Roldan, AAA’s current CEO, and reflected on the legacy of founder Antonio Peña. JBL also shared his respect for Konnan, calling him a “legend of Lucha Libre.”
The former WWE Champion admitted he was unsure if he’d work with AAA again after WWE’s acquisition of the promotion, but last week’s invitation sealed the deal. “That doesn’t take but a nanosecond — yes, absolutely,” he said.
TripleMania XXXIII promises to be one of the year’s biggest wrestling spectacles, and JBL’s return to AAA commentary adds an extra layer of intrigue for fans worldwide.
