Psycho Clown and Mr. Iguana Make WWE Debut – On the August 1, 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown, AAA Tag Team Champions Berto and Angel Garza—collectively known as Los Garza—defended their titles against a surprise duo from AAA: Psycho Clown and Mr. Iguana, making their WWE debut. The match, held in Detroit, brought high-energy lucha libre action to WWE television, continuing the integration between WWE and AAA following WWE’s acquisition of the Mexican promotion in April.
Despite being late additions to the show, Psycho Clown and Mr. Iguana drew strong reactions from the live crowd. Iguana, already gaining popularity with WWE audiences following his appearance during WWE and AAA’s first joint event in June, brought charisma and agility to the match, while Psycho Clown balanced the team with his signature intensity. Together, they looked formidable and had moments where they seemed on the verge of an upset.
However, Los Garza proved why they are the reigning AAA Tag Team Champions. With a mix of speed, precision, and veteran tag team chemistry, Berto and Angel maintained control when it mattered most. After weathering the challengers’ offense, they secured the pinfall victory and retained their titles, adding another successful defense to their growing reign.
Earlier on Friday, Lucha Libre AAA officially announced that both Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown had been pulled from the company’s August 2 event in Chihuahua, citing WWE obligations. That announcement led to immediate speculation about their involvement on SmackDown, which was confirmed when the two stars arrived to answer Santos Escobar’s open challenge on behalf of Los Garza.
While most of the SmackDown tag division prepares for this weekend’s high-stakes TLC match at SummerSlam, Los Garza have remained focused on maintaining their grip on the AAA titles. Notably, they are the only tag team from SmackDown not participating in the WWE Tag Team Title bout at SummerSlam, further highlighting their status as representatives of WWE’s growing AAA partnership.
Mr. Iguana, one half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions with La Hiedra, continues to impress and appears poised for more crossover appearances if fan support continues to build.
