Number One Contender’s Match Ends in Controversy on NXT

The number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver remains unclear following a chaotic and controversial ending to the March 31 episode of WWE NXT.

The main event featured Kendal Grey taking on Lola Vice in a match designed to determine who would challenge Jacy Jayne for the title. The closing moments created confusion both in the ring and among viewers.

At first, it appeared that Grey had secured the win after delivering a northern lights suplex while caught in a guillotine submission. Her music played, suggesting victory, but the situation quickly unraveled. A second referee entered the ring and confronted the official who counted the pinfall. A replay then showed Grey tapping out during the sequence, indicating that Vice may have actually won the match.

The conflicting outcomes left the match result unresolved. As the situation escalated, Shawn Michaels came to the ring in an attempt to clarify what had happened. Despite his involvement, no final decision was announced before the broadcast ended, leaving the title picture heading into Stand & Deliver uncertain.

The number one contender’s match was set up the previous week after Grey teamed with Wren Sinclair to defeat Fatal Influence. Following that win, Grey declared her intention to challenge Jayne, only for Vice to interrupt and stake her own claim to the opportunity.

With no official winner confirmed, it remains to be seen whether WWE will declare a single challenger or potentially add both competitors to the match at Stand & Deliver.

Elsewhere on the card, additional championship bouts have been confirmed for the event in St. Louis. Vanity Project is set to defend the NXT Tag Team Titles against Los Americanos. In another title match, Tatum Paxley will defend the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Blake Monroe.

The unresolved ending has added uncertainty to one of the key matches on the Stand & Deliver card, with a final decision expected in the coming days.
