8/1 WWE SmackDown Live Results – Welcome to WrestlingAttitude’s live coverage of WWE SmackDown on August 1, from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey!
There is a steel cage above the ring while we see people walking in and around the arena.
We are live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, as John Cena makes his way to the ring to start the show!
After some “Let’s go Cena, Cena Sucks” and before Cena can even speak, Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring.
John tells Cody he said he was exhausted and a match at SummerSlam would be too difficult for him. You didn’t listen, you assaulted him, you forged his signature, and forced him into one of the most dangerous matches in WWE on the biggest stage for the biggest title. John says he has one thing to say to Cody . . . thank you. He says that was just the boot in the ass he needed. For 25 years, he forged a reputation on hustle, loyalty, and respect. Then he threw it all away 5 months ago for shocking tv. The dust settled and everyone went back to normal. Everyone on his team left him. They left him alone for John to pretend he is something he is not.
John says he wants to leave here with this title after his last match. John says he wants to take it home with him. It is not because he wants to ruin wrestling. John says he loves wrestling. He says he wants to take it home with him so you don’t forget about him when he is gone. John says he was so hung up on how he thought you would see him tomorrow, he has been acting stupid today. You warned him but he didn’t listen. Cody, you tried to tell him but John says he didn’t listen. You did what a friend would do. You forced me into a fight, not a match, but a fight. Something that is going to be brutal and force him to dig down and be who he is. If he shouldn’t show up for war, he shouldn’t show up at all.
August 1st is the day that John Cena came back to the WWE.
He says he doesn’t know who leaves wtih the title on Sunday but he knows who wins. Each and every one of you. John says he is done with his BS and Cody gets to face the greatest of all time at his best. It will be in a street fight with no rules, like Cody wanted. If you want some, come get some. On Sunday, the only platinum rapper coming to whip your ass is here. John says The Champ is Here.
Cody takes off his track suit jacket and he asks for two beers. Cody welcomes John Cena back and he opens a beer for John.
John looks around and they shake hands and drink together. Cena stands in the ring as Rhodes makes his way backstage.
