Tiffany Stratton Reflects on Her “Mean Girl” Persona, SummerSlam Title Defense, More

Tiffany Stratton Reflects on Her “Mean Girl” Persona, SummerSlam Title Defense, More – WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton recently joined Busted Open Radio, where she spoke about her fast rise in WWE, her popular “mean girl” persona, and the pressure that comes with holding gold in the company. Stratton, who is scheduled to defend her title against Jade Cargill at SummerSlam, also opened up about dealing with nerves and how she navigates social media.

The interview began with co-host Dave LaGreca expressing confusion over Stratton’s character. Despite being designed as a heel, she has been receiving cheers from live crowds. Stratton had no problem clearing things up.

“I just, you know, I got cheered starting in Australia, and, you know, it made its way to America. So why would I change anything?” Stratton said confidently. “Why would I start acting different if the mean girl persona is working and people are liking it and they’re cheering me? I feel like the moment I do start acting like a good guy, I feel like that’s when the people would turn on me and maybe start booing me. So why would I change anything? If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”

Tommy Dreamer praised her for staying true to her character, saying, “What got you to the dance? Why would you change that?” He also complimented her for having such strong self-awareness early in her career. Stratton added that the fan reaction she received in Perth was a major turning point.

“Hearing myself get cheered, especially as somebody who’s supposed to get booed, was definitely so eye-opening and changing for me,” she said.

When asked about the highlight of her career so far, Stratton pointed to the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Australia, calling it a “confidence booster” and a “transformative moment.”

“I have to say Australia was probably one of the best moments of my career thus far,” Stratton recalled. “Just having the crowd behind me in my first ever big PLE in a foreign country was such a confidence booster, and I felt it in the moment… I was just so in the moment that day and that changed me. It changed my mindset on wrestling and in my career and my confidence.”

Looking ahead to her first SummerSlam appearance, Stratton admitted that pre-match nerves are a regular part of her routine, even for smaller shows.

“I get nervous before I go and do an NXT coconut show,” she admitted. “Like, I get nervous every single time I go out and wrestle. I don’t think that’ll ever change. I think I will always get nervous, and I think it’s good for me to feel nervous… I perform very well under pressure. So if I’m not nervous, there’s something wrong.”

As for social media criticism, Stratton says she keeps a healthy distance from it.

“I have a good support system. I have my family, my friends, and I kind of just lean on them, or I completely sign off,” she said. “I really don’t go on Twitter that much… or X, whatever you want to call it. I’m mostly on TikTok, and TikTok is like my safe space. There is no wrestling, it’s all just reality TV, trends, dances and stuff like that. So I really don’t scroll that often.”

With Stratton set to defend her title against the undefeated Jade Cargill at SummerSlam, she’ll soon face one of the biggest tests of her WWE career — but she’s entering it with confidence, momentum, and a strong sense of who she is.
