AEW World Tag-Team Championship Eliminator Tournament
The Outrunners vs. The Young Bucks
From there, an extended video package airs promoting tonight’s main event, which will feature Hangman Page vs. Jon Moxley in a rematch from AEW All In: Texas with the AEW World Championship on-the-line in a bout where everyone will be banned from ringside.
After that, we shoot inside the host venue for tonight’s show as The Outrunners’ theme hits. They make their way to the ring for the latest match in the ongoing AEW World Tag-Team Championship Eliminator tournament. Already in the ring are their opponents, The Young Bucks.
“The Dapper Yapper” Justin Roberts once again does a sped-up introduction for the duo, quickly saying their names with the least amount of enthusiasm possible for someone with his kind of voice.
The bell rings and Magnum delivers a bodyslam to Nick. Turbo Floyd tags in and The Outrunners double team on Nick. Matt comes to his brother’s aid, but The Outrunners deliver double back body drops on both Nick and Matt before raining down right hands on them in opposite corners.
Matt and Nick level Floyd with a double back elbow and hit their signature pose, but Nick and Magnum tag in. Magnum charges at Matt in the corner, but Matt sees him coming and tags in. Nick delivers a neckbreaker to Magnum, then lands an enzuigiri on him from the apron as Matt delivers a clothesline to him in the corner. Nick tags in and The Bucks deliver a cannonball-enzuigiri combination to Magnum. Nick then lands an escalara on Floyd off the top rope on the outside of the ring.
Back from the break, Floyd lands a splash on Matt and follows it up with a modified Northern Lights Bomb. The Outrunners look to land a double back elbow on Matt, but Nick breaks things up with a superkicks to Floyd and Magnum’s arms as they set up for the move. Nick lands a superkick on Magnum.
Nick delivers a jump up knee strike on Magnum and follows it up with an Assisted Sliced Bread on him with Matt. Magnum rolls up Matt, but Matt kicks out and low blows Magnum whilst distracting the referee. The referee shoves Matt, and Magnum rolls him up. Magnum kicks out, but Nick looks to land a superkick on Magnum. Magnum kicks out, but Floyd tags in and The Outrunners land Total Recall on Matt. Nick breaks the fall, and The Bucks respond with the TK Driver to Floyd for the win.
Winners: The Young Bucks
After the match, Kazuchika Okada join The Bucks in the ring, and the trio continue beating down The Outrunners. Swerve Strickland’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring along with Prince Nana. The Outrunners gain the upper hand over The Bucks, then beat down Okada with Strickland. Strickland then connects with the Swerve Stomp on The Elite.
Ricochet & The Gates Of Agony Confront Mark Briscoe
Backstage, Renee Paquette is standing by with Mark Briscoe. She brings up MJF. Briscoe asks if she’s seen him. Before she can answer, in walks Ricochet with The Gates of Agony, telling Briscoe to shut up. Briscoe tells Ricochet he’ll handle him later.
He turns to the camera to try again to address MJF, only to once more be interrupted by Ricochet and The Gates of Agony, the latter of which demand that Briscoe shows respect to Ricochet. Ricochet gets in one final line and does his Jadakiss rip-off laugh.
The trio then finally walk off. Back inside the arena, Excalibur does a live ad-read for Draft Kings. After that, the show shifts gears and heads into another commercial break.
We Hear From Christian Cage
Tony Schiavone introduces Cage, and he makes his way to the ring. Schiavone asks Cage about The Patriarchy kicking him out at All In and Cope subsequently telling him to find himself, and Cage introduces himself before admitting that he’s an asshole. He says he was obsessed with becoming AEW World Champion no matter the cost, and he was ready to fulfill his destiny at AEW Revolution earlier this year. He says when he looked at the canvas, he caught a glimpse of his past and became an asshole with feelings. He says it cost him anything, then says he didn’t think that Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian were competent enough to kick him out of the group. He asks Nick, Mother Wayne, and Sabian what they know about taking risks.
Cage addresses Cope and asks him if the things he’s said to him in AEW were that bad. He says Cope was an opportunist who did some unsavory things to get to the top, then says he was simply conducting business. He says Cope told him to find himself, and says maybe he did but maybe he didn’t. He says himself and Cope are very different, and yet the same.
Cage says The Patriarchy decided that they didn’t need a patriarch anymore, and says he’s “found himself in holes before”. He says he’s always managed to climb out of the holes that he’s been buried in, then says Nick may think he’s had a little success as Ring Of Honor World Television Champion but questions how he’ll show up when he has to defend his title. He says Nick has the audacity to call himself the new face of AEW, and he has every tool to be that, but he’ll have to go through him to get there. He then informs Nick and Sabian that he’s disowning the both of them.
Mother Wayne looks to slap Cage, but Cage catches her hand. He spots Sabian sneaking up behind him, but not Nick sneaking up on the other side of him. Mother Wayne hands Nick and Sabian a pair of chairs, then both hit Cage with them with a double Con-Chair-To. Nick tells Cage that he disowns him and turned his back on him.
FTR are backstage with Stokely Hathaway, who said they’re one step closer to taking back their AEW Tag Team Titles. Adam Copeland deserves to be banned from ringside tomorrow night, what The Hurt Syndicate did last week was cowardice and The Bang Bang Gang are good, but they aren’t FTR. The Young Bucks walk in and FTR said they’re happy The Bucks won tonight as they put the past in the past and hope to see them in the Finals. They both shake hands as Hathaway stops and said The Bucks aren’t in charge anymore, right? The Bucks agreed, as Hathaway motioned like he was going to back hand them before hobbling away with his crutch. Matt screams that everyone in this company is so fickle! Hathaway was hilarious here.
Adam Page (c) vs. Jon Moxley For The AEW World Championship – Everyone Is Barred From Ringside
The bell rings and the two lock up. Page fires off forearm strikes on Moxley, then lands a chop on him. Moxley responds with a couple of his own, but Page wears Moxley down. Moxley delivers a German suplex to Page, then jams his knee into Page in the corner and rains down right hands on him. He jams his thumb into Page’s eye, then steps over him. Page lands a clothesline on Moxley on the apron, then flies over the top rope to level him on the outside and dumps him back inside the ring.
Page connects with a sit-out powerbomb on Moxley and goes for a pin, but Moxley kicks out and retreats to the outside. Page follows Moxley outside, but Moxley lands a piledriver on Page on top of the ring steps.
Back from the break, Moxley has a straitjacket cinched in on Page. Page escapes, then exchanges right hands with Moxley. Moxley bites Page, but Page lands a German suplex on Moxley and levels him with a clothesline. Moxley dropkicks Page off the apron and clears the announce desk, then drags Page on top of it. Page manages to land a Dead Eye on Moxley.
Page and Moxley returns to the ring, and Moxley looks to fly off the ropes. Page catches him and delivers a piledriver to him, but Moxley cinches in a Bulldog Choke on Page. Page escapes and locks in the Yes Lock on Moxley, but Moxley crawls over to the bottom rope to break the hold.
Moxley rakes Page’s spine and delivers a second piledriver to Page on top of the apron, then lands a modified Neutralizer on Page and goes for a pin. Page kicks out, then looks to land a Dead Eye on Moxley. The referee accidentally gets clocked.
Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli approach the ring, but security stops them. Marina Shafir grabs the AEW World Championship belt and hands it to Moxley, and Moxley hits Page with it. He goes for a pin, but Page kicks out. The referee and security force Shafir to leave ringside, with Castagnoli pulling her over the barricade. Darby Allin then flies off one of the balconies to level Castagnoli, Yuta, and Shafir. Moxley becomes distracted, but Page then delivers a Buckshot Lariat to Moxley. Moxley looks to cinch in a Bulldog Choke on Page, but Page responds with a Dead Eye to Moxley and follows it up with a second Buckshot Lariat for the win.
Winner (and still): “Hangman” Adam Page
Video package for Dustin Rhodes vs. Kyle Fletcher tomorrow night for the TNT Title in a Chicago Street Fight was shown.
Toni Storm & Alex Windsor vs. Athena & Billie Starkz
Windsor and Athena begin the action. The bell rings and the two lock up. Storm and Starkz tag in, and Storm cinches in a submission on Starkz. She follows it up with a backbreaker and tags in Windsor. Windsor lands a lariat on Starkz in the corner, then lands a hanging DDT on Starkz and goes for a pin. Athena breaks the fall, but Storm chases her around the ring. Starkz catches Storm with a clothesline, but Windsor takes Athena out with a cannonball off the apron. Windsor and Starkz get back in the ring, and Starkz catapults Windsor over to Athena who lands a spinebuster on her.
Back from the break, Athena prevents Windsor from tagging in Storm. Windsor delivers a clothesline to Athena and follows it up with a Liger Bomb, then goes for a pin but Starkz breaks the fall. Storm tags in and delivers a pair of shotgun dropkicks to Starkz, then lands a Hip Attack on Athena that sends her crashing off the apron and rains down right hands on Starkz in the center of the ring. Athena then lands an O Face on Storm for the win.
Winners: Athena and Billie Starkz
After the match, Starkz attacks Windsor on the outside as Athena tells Storm that it’s only a matter of time before she cashes in a contract for a title match.
Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Page, who is being tended to by doctors. MJF struts in and congratulates Seabiscuit on retaining his title. Last time MJF checked, heroes don’t stab people in the head with forks, as he views Page as a coward in this scenario and tries to goad Page into giving him a World Title match and not using his contract. Page said MJF is going to have to earn a title shot if he doesn’t want to use his contract, as he’s going to have to beat someone he’s known for almost 10 years in Mark Briscoe if he wants him to consider giving him a title shot. MJF said the hicks from the sticks always stick together, but Page said there’s no Hurt Syndicate around, there’s nothing holding him back from kicking his ass. MJF furiously stormed out.
Alicia Atout is backstage with Willow Nightingale and talks about her challenge last week to Thekla going unanswered, but Thekla still formed a new group in the Triangle of Madness. Nightingale said she can have a shape nickname too, calling herself The Trapezoid of Grappezoid and said she talked to Tony Khan about having a match with Thekla on Collision. She said Khan said “damn girl, you wanna get crazy Chi-Style?” and he gave her the match, as Nightingale said that’s how matches are made around here. Nightingale said she’s going to rip off Thekla’s eight legs tomorrow night. Excalibur said that was a shockingly accurate Tony Khan impression by Nightingale.
Mark Briscoe vs. Ricochet
Wall walk pump kick from Ricochet early, but Briscoe responded with an enzugiri and forearms in the corner. Briscoe remained in control, as he no sold the forearms Ricochet threw and gave him a hard corner buckle as a result. Briscoe missed a corner charge, but fired off a thrust chop to send Ricochet crashing outside. Gates of Agony make their way ringside and onto the apron, as the distraction was enough for Ricochet to attack from behind and hit a follow-up dive to stand tall with Liona & Kaun heading to commercial.
Back from break, Briscoe hulked up and fired back with strikes until he blocked a pump kick and sent Ricochet flipping over face first. Briscoe paint brushed Ricochet, who took referee Bryce, allowing Liona to pull Briscoe out to the floor, where Ricochet hit a corkscrew dive. Back inside springboard lariat connected flush, which led to a standing Shooting Star for two. Spirit Gun blocked, as Briscoe wanted Jay Driller, but opted to clothesline Ricochet outside instead. Kaun took the bullet, shoving Ricochet out of the way and eating a baseball slide from Briscoe. Setting up a chair in the ring, Briscoe launched off it to the outside onto Kaun & Ricochet as the crowd popped big.
Back inside, Jay Driller was blocked, but not the lariat, which turned Ricochet inside out. Briscoe wanted a Froggy Bow, but Kaun took the ref and Liona sent Briscoe crashing to the mat. Ricochet hit Vertigo, but Briscoe kicked out at two. Liona & Kaun went to get in the ring, but Brody King & Bandido made the save and fight the team they’ll be facing tomorrow on Collision. They all brawl to the back, as Ricochet was left alone, as Briscoe spun him around with a cradle for two. Ricochet up with multiple thrust kicks, but Briscoe turned him inside out again with a lariat before finally hitting a Jay Driller for the win.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Post-match, Briscoe took the mic and said they’re just getting started as he called out MJF. One time you bring up his brother’s name, shame on you, two times, shame on me for not obliterating his ass. Briscoe has never felt like this before, he needs help, he knows his brother is chilling in the mansion in heaven. If Briscoe kills MJF in cold blood and doesn’t repent, he’s worried he’ll never see his brother again, so MJF needs to make his day and get out there right now.
MJF’s music hit, but he never came out, he was on the big screen. MJF said he’s not an idiot and sensed Mascot Mark dropped the comedy routine, but it doesn’t mean MJF has to take him seriously. MJF has zero interest in a match, but now has to entertain it, since Seabiscuit told him he has to if he wants a shot at the AEW World Title. MJF talked to that mark Tony Khan and next week they’ll have their match, if Briscoe makes it. The video cuts and MJF is behind Briscoe, giving him a low blow before beating down Briscoe while wearing a MJF Did Nothing Wrong shirt. MJF told Hangman Page to watch, as he put on his Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Page’s music hit and he power walked to the ring. Page booted MJF, teased a Buckshot, but MJF spun back to Briscoe, who almost hit a Jay Driller, only MJF escaped and literally ran for his life up the ramp.
