WWE Plans September PLE Opposite AEW All Out – According to a report from Post Wrestling, WWE and AEW may be headed for another direct showdown this fall.
Multiple sources familiar with WWE’s schedule have indicated that the company is planning a main roster premium live event for Saturday, September 20. While the show has yet to be officially announced, it is set to take place in Indianapolis — the very same night AEW will present its All Out pay-per-view from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The start time for WWE’s event has not been confirmed, but AEW’s All Out is scheduled for a 6 p.m. EST start for ticket holders, with the main card expected to begin at 8 p.m. EST. If WWE opts for a traditional evening start, the two events could overlap in primetime.
This would not be the first time the companies have gone head-to-head this year. AEW’s last two pay-per-views — All In and Double or Nothing — both aired opposite WWE programming. All In took place the same night as a WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, while Double or Nothing ran against an NXT event.
AEW President Tony Khan has previously addressed WWE’s scheduling moves, calling them a “consistent” counter-programming tactic. Speaking after Double or Nothing in May, Khan drew a historical comparison, promising AEW would fare far better than Jim Crockett Promotions did when it faced similar competition from WWE in the 1980s.
The September 20 show would also fill a noticeable gap in WWE’s premium live event calendar. Currently, the company has Clash in Paris set for August 31 and Crown Jewel Perth scheduled for October 11, leaving September without a major main roster event until now.
