MJF Calls Out Goldberg, Open to AEW Match

MJF Calls Out Goldberg, Open to AEW Match – Following Goldberg’s final match in WWE—where he was choked out by GUNTHER in his hometown of Atlanta on July 12 at Saturday Night’s Main Event—the WWE Hall of Famer expressed frustration with how aspects of his sendoff were handled, including his post-match speech being cut from both the NBC and Peacock broadcasts. Since then, the idea of Goldberg making one last appearance outside WWE has sparked speculation, especially after MJF openly addressed the possibility on Busted Open Radio.

Speaking candidly, MJF brought up how Goldberg was one of his childhood idols alongside The Rock, referencing his infamous appearance on Rosie O’Donnell as a young boy. However, he made it clear that while he respects Goldberg’s legacy, he has no intention of treating him gently should they ever meet in the ring.

“If Goldberg wants some, I’m right here,” MJF said. “But I will embarrass him, I will demolish him, I will snap, crack and pop every single tendon, ligament and bone in his stupid, old, musty body. You know who’s next? Nobody. I’d be last, capisce? So if he wants a proper sendoff, he should be facing a generational talent. I’m right here if he’s interested. But, A, I’m gonna need to be paid a lot of money if you wanna see that match, and B, I would imagine he doesn’t come cheap either. So, a lot of stars have to align for that to happen.”

When asked if he believes AEW fans would want to see him wrestle Goldberg, MJF responded with his trademark arrogance.

“I think AEW fans would like to see me do anything,” he quipped. “AEW fans would like if I pulled my trunks down and took a big, fat dump in the middle of the ring. I’m the greatest who’s ever lived.”

Despite the brash delivery, MJF acknowledged Goldberg’s stature in the business, calling him “an incredible, intense megastar”—even while criticizing his mic skills. He added:

“As far as MJF versus Goldberg specifically, I mean, that’s a huge marquee match in any era. I think there are a lot of wrestling fans that feel that I would have fit in in that era a great deal. Especially when you think of the people and mic workers of the time. Goldberg, a bumbling idiot, not a great talker. But… yeah, I mean, I think that that’s a huge box office match.”

Whether this match ever materializes remains uncertain, but MJF has now publicly opened the door—if the money is right and the timing aligns.
