LA Knight to Face Seth Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event – Following weeks of escalating tension, it was officially announced during the June 30 episode of WWE RAW that LA Knight will face Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The announcement comes after a string of run-ins between the two Superstars. The issues date back to Money in the Bank, where Rollins appeared during the closing moments of the ladder match and knocked Knight off the structure, costing him the briefcase.
On RAW, the conflict escalated during a segment featuring World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. Rollins interrupted to tease that he may soon enter the title picture again — for either the WWE or World title. This led to CM Punk confronting Rollins over his interference in the Night of Champions main event, where Punk was on the verge of defeating John Cena before Rollins hit him with a Curb Stomp. As Rollins tried to back out of the situation, he was blindsided by LA Knight in the arena concourse, leading to a physical altercation. Rollins eventually retreated after throwing a drink in Knight’s face.
Later backstage, Punk caught up with Knight and made it clear he has a score to settle with every member of Rollins’ faction. Knight responded by confirming that Rollins was already booked to face him at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
This grudge match is now set to be one of the marquee bouts for the July 12 live event in Atlanta, which is shaping up to be a major stop on the road to SummerSlam. Also scheduled for that night is a blockbuster World Championship clash, with GUNTHER defending against Goldberg.
