The two respected competitors opened with a handshake, setting the tone for a hard-fought, sportsmanlike battle.
The match featured a back-and-forth sequence of technical exchanges, with Cody and Jey trading holds, strikes, and near falls. Cody attempted to apply early pressure with a figure-four leglock, while Jey countered with his signature high-impact offense, including a dragon whip and Samoan Drop. The crowd roared as Jey connected with a corner hip attack and a near-miss frog splash that Cody blocked with his knees.
The intensity ramped up as Jey applied a sleeper and Cody countered with a suicide dive attempt, only to get intercepted mid-air by a punch. Cody eventually regained control with a superplex and a Cody Cutter, but Jey refused to stay down. The resilient Uso fought back and even hit Cody’s own CrossRhodes for a near fall, followed by a sequence of superkicks and a devastating spear.
Cody managed to survive Jey’s flurry and delivered a huge super cutter from the top rope, followed by CrossRhodes to seal the victory.
With this win, Cody Rhodes advances to the King of the Ring Final at WWE Night of Champions this Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There, he will meet longtime ally and former Legacy mentor Randy Orton. The stakes couldn’t be higher—whoever wins the match will earn a World Title opportunity at WWE SummerSlam, scheduled for August 2 or 3 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
As noted earlier, Jade Cargill secured her spot in the Queen of the Ring final after a grueling victory over Roxanne Perez. She will face Asuka.
