2025 WWE Royal Rumble Sets PLE Viewership Record – The 2025 Royal Rumble is officially in the books, delivering a night filled with surprises, major returns, and key developments for WrestleMania 41. The event saw Charlotte Flair emerge victorious in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, securing her place in a championship bout at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, in the men’s Royal Rumble match, Jey Uso outlasted “29 other competitors”, eliminating John Cena last to solidify his WrestleMania main event opportunity.

The night also featured a hard-hitting Undisputed WWE Championship match, where Cody Rhodes successfully defended his title against Kevin Owens in a brutal ladder match. The contest saw both men push their limits, but Rhodes ultimately retained, extending his reign as champion.

WWE’s first Royal Rumble event on Netflix delivered strong viewership numbers. According to Netflix’s rankings, Royal Rumble placed tenth among the top 10 shows on the platform, amassing 2.1 million views globally (not a great number IMHO) and accumulating 9.6 million hours watched. The event performed exceptionally well in certain markets, ranking as the #1 show in two countries while breaking into the top 10 in 27 different regions. These figures highlight WWE’s expanding global reach, particularly as it transitions into the streaming era.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that this was the most-watched Royal Rumble in WWE history and also the most-viewed premium live event ever. He noted that the Netflix partnership allowed for significantly higher viewership than traditional pay-per-view and WWE Network events. According to Meltzer, the 2025 Royal Rumble even outperformed any single night of WrestleMania in terms of global viewership. While he expects this record to be broken at WrestleMania 41, the Royal Rumble’s performance underscores the impact of WWE’s move to Netflix.

“Meltzer said, “”This was the most-watched Royal Rumble around the world in history and actually the most-watched WWE pay-per-view event ever in history. The Rumble because there were a lot more viewers on Netflix than there were via whether it was pay-per-view in the old days or television after the pay-per-view or local streaming services that bought the network or the network or whatever, so more people watched this royal rumble than watched any night of WrestleMania ever, let alone every Royal Rumble ever. So that record will be broken at WrestleMania, but it was, in fact, the all-time record.”

With WrestleMania 41 on the horizon, the fallout from the Royal Rumble will shape WWE’s biggest event of the year.
