We’re live from the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Michael Cole is in the ring. He says, as we know, the main event of WrestleMania may be Roman Reigns Vs. Edge for the Universal Championship… or maybe not. Not if his guest tonight has anything to say about it, then Cole introduces former WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan.
Michael brings up Daniel’s match against the Cousin of the Table in a Steel Cage match and if Bryan wins, he faces Roman for the Universal Title at Fastlane. Cole mentions that Bryan was supposed to team with Edge against Roman and Jey Uso. Cole asks why did Daniel want the title match.
Daniel says Cole is making a lot of assumptions. The biggest assumption is whether anyone asked him to be in that tag match. No one came up to talk to him about the match. They know Daniel. He rolls with the punches and he does what he is asked to do and he will work his butt off. Bryan says he knows why Edge didn’t ask. He knows why Roman didn’t ask him. Roman doesn’t want to defend his title at Fastlane. Daniel says he is not the old Daniel Bryan any more.
Bryan says WWE has their dream match. Attitude Era versus the Thunder Dome. The only person who does not want to see that match is him and Daniel says he is going to do his damnest to make sure that doesn’t happen. Daniel says he wants to show a package about himself.
Bryan says he has lost a lot in his career. He has gotten beaten up a lot in his career. You would think after winning my third Elimination Chamber Match and fighting valiantly against Roman Reigns, you wouldn’t think that was the deal. When I rolled to the floor and Edge entered the ring, speared Edge, and pointed to the Wrestlemania sign, I have never felt more like a failure.
Daniel says he doesn’t have a ton of ambition. He mentions his personality test and he was told that he had the lowest ambition score and she wondered how could he be successful. Daniel says it is because he loves this. He says he has never had to work a day in the last 21 years because he does not think this is a job. For the last year, I have had in the back of my head that I am going to be more of a full time dad than a full time wrestler. I have decided to put other talent first and give someone else the chance.
When I rolled to the floor and Edge pointed to the Wrestlemania sign and I felt like a failure, it is because I failed myself and put myself on the back burner. I realized I had a lot more ambition than that personality test said. I should be in the main event of Wrestlemania, not Edge and Roman. In the last three weeks, I have wrestled more matches than Roman and Edge have in the last three months. They have wrestled three matches this year. I wrestle every week because I love this. I did a disservice to myself because I can be the absolute best.
If I beat Jey Uso tonight, I get to face Roman Reigns at Fastlane. By beating Roman, that is the only way I get to main event Wrestlemania and this could be my last chance.
Roman Reigns’ music plays and he makes his way to the stage with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso. We go to commercial.
We are back and Roman has made his way into the ring.
Roman is handed the mic and he says he is looking at the same guy, but you don’t sound like the same guy. The way you are talking is confusing and if it confuses me, it is confusing our audience. Daniel Bryan is ambitious and driven now. You are the underdog and little guy. You are a lotto winner. You are the guy who waits on the opportunity and it works out some times. You are not ambitious. I am ambitious.
I have been driven since I was young. If i want something I take it. You don’t love this, you need this because you don’t have anything. Love is based on service and what you will do for others. Take me for example. I love this business. I don’t need it. I do it because everybody needs me. Smackdown, the crew, and the cameraman need me. Paul and Jey need me. You need me. After Jey whoops your ass, you will know the facts that you need me. Then you are going to acknowledge me.
Uso takes the mic and steps to Bryan, ranting and talking trash about tonight’s cage match. Uso says Bryan’s Road to WrestleMania ends tonight. He shoves the mic in Bryan’s gut. Uso walks away but turns to attack. Bryan counters and sends him out of the ring. Bryan stares Reigns down in the middle of the ring as his music starts back up. Fans chant “yes!” as Bryan watches Reigns makes his exit with Heyman. Uso clutches his arm and backs up the ramp while staring Bryan down.
