Women’s Title Match Discussed for WWE Evolution 2 – WWE is reportedly eyeing a marquee showdown between two of its top women’s division stars for the upcoming WWE Evolution premium live event. According to Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, internal conversations have taken place about a potential Women’s World Championship match between Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY.
While the match has not yet been made official, sources within WWE indicate that the idea is “on the table” as creative planning continues for the highly anticipated all-women’s event. Evolution is expected to feature some of the company’s biggest names, both past and present, and the pairing of Ripley and SKY would certainly help bolster the card.
Ripley is without a clear No. 1 contender for her championship. Her rivalry with Raquel Rodriguez was reignited at WWE Night of Champions during a Street Fight, but the issues between the two appear to be over. Meanwhile, IYO SKY—reigning as WWE Women’s Champion—has also seen her recent challengers fall short, and no obvious challenger is lined up heading into the summer.
If this inter-brand clash happens, it would mark the first major singles match between the two champions, who are widely regarded as among the most talented and versatile women on the WWE roster. With Evolution designed to spotlight top-tier women’s wrestling, WWE could be looking to deliver a high-profile “dream match” scenario that lives up to the event’s legacy.
WWE has yet to confirm the match or the full Evolution card, but announcements are expected soon. RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis are slated to deliver major Evolution-related updates on the June 30 episode of RAW.
