The Undertaker Talks American Badass Gimmick (Video)

WWE released another teaser clip of The Undertaker on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s new show, The Broken Skull Sessions, airing tonight on the WWE Network after Survivor Series.

In the teaser clip, Steve Austin asked him how the Attitude Era caused his persona to evolve from The Deadman to The American Badass and his ability to know when he’s starting to get stale.

Taker revealed the new gimmick in 2000, which he portrayed until 2003. In 2004 after taking a break from Survivor Series through WrestleMania 20, he returned as The Deadman.

“Probably, that’s my best attribute is being able to figure out… if I started feeling stale my audience is probably starting to feel it before me. You get wrapped up in what you’re doing. The small changes, the breaks at the right time.”

Taker added that he doesn’t think The Deadman character would’ve made through the Attitude Era, which is why he changed to the American Badass.
