Steve Maclin Makes Chaotic Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Debut After TNA Exit

Steve Maclin didn’t wait long to make an impact after leaving TNA. The former champion surfaced at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s television taping in Windsor on August 7, launching himself into multiple matches, segments and a violent post‑match attack that immediately positioned him as one of the promotion’s most disruptive new arrivals.

Maclin first appeared in a singles match against Psycho Mike, picking up a decisive victory. Instead of leaving quietly, he later returned to interrupt commentary on camera, inserting himself into the broadcast and making it clear he wasn’t finished for the night.

His most significant moment came when he confronted Rhino. Maclin attacked Rhino before their match could even begin, turning the bout into a brawl that spiraled out of control. The referee eventually disqualified Maclin, but the ruling did nothing to slow him down. He continued the assault after the bell, taking out the referee and a ringside doctor before finishing Rhino with a con‑chair‑to.

The scene left Rhino laid out and the MLP officials scrambling, while Maclin walked away having made one of the most aggressive debuts the promotion has seen.

Potential Clash With Adam Copeland Looms

Maclin’s actions may be setting up a major showdown. Adam Copeland is scheduled to appear at MLP’s Northern Rising event, making a potential Maclin vs. Copeland match an obvious direction following the attack on Rhino. With Maclin already establishing himself as a violent presence, a confrontation with Copeland would be a marquee matchup for the promotion.

Maclin became a free agent after departing TNA in June. He was recently stripped of the Boca Raton Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship after informing the promotion he would not appear at its August 16 Summer Smash event. There had also been preliminary contact between Maclin and AEW following his TNA exit, but his appearance in Windsor confirms that Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling is at least part of his immediate plans.

If his debut is any indication, Maclin isn’t easing into his new environment. He won a match, disrupted commentary and left Rhino destroyed by the end of the taping — a statement that MLP fans and officials won’t forget anytime soon.
