WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg (Brian James) is preparing to step back between the ropes for his first official wrestling match in over eleven years.
The 57-year-old veteran’s last official bout took place at the WWE Royal Rumble on January 25, 2015, where he teamed with longtime New Age Outlaws partner Billy Gunn in a tag team loss against The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor).
The D-Generation X icon will make his long-awaited return on Thursday, October 22, at Jeff Jarrett’s All-Star Super Slam in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The event, held as part of the annual Hendersonville Pig Fest at Veterans Park, serves as a celebration for Jarrett’s 40th anniversary in professional wrestling.
Road Dogg will reunite with his original WWF partner, teaming with Jarrett and Jay Lethal in a six-man tag team match against QT Marshall, Elijah Drago, and Brady Booker.
The announcement comes as a surprise to many fans, particularly after Billy Gunn previously played down prospects of another New Age Outlaws run, suggesting that Road Dogg’s physical condition after decades in the business made future matches unlikely.
Earlier this year, James stepped down from his position on WWE’s creative team, where he had been serving as co-lead writer for Friday Night SmackDown. While he remains under a WWE Legends contract, brief discussions took place regarding a potential backstage role with TNA Wrestling around Slammiversary, though those talks ultimately did not result in an agreement.
Road Dogg initially broke into WWF in the 1990s alongside Jarrett as “The Roadie” before achieving legendary status alongside Gunn as the New Age Outlaws. The duo captured WWE Tag Team Championship gold multiple times—including a nostalgic title run in 2014 after defeating Cody Rhodes and Goldust—before being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of D-Generation X in 2019.
