Kevin Owens Qualifies For Money In The Bank Following Chaotic Triple Threat On SmackDown

The field is officially set for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. On the October 2 episode of WWE SmackDown, Kevin Owens secured the final spot by outlasting Cody Rhodes and Johnny Gargano in a high-octane Triple Threat main event—with a crucial assist from a bitter rivalry.

High-Impact Triple Threat Action

The match started at a frantic pace, with Cody Rhodes taking early control by striking Owens and elbowing Gargano. Owens quickly answered back with a barrage of kicks and punches, forcing a close two-count from Rhodes.

As the action moved inside and outside the ring, Johnny Gargano showcased his agility, delivering a slingshot spear onto Rhodes and taking out Owens with a dive over the top rope. However, Owens halted the momentum with a crushing back senton and a cannonball into the corner.

The brawl quickly turned physical on the outside:

  • Table Introduced: Owens dragged Gargano outside, throwing him into the announce table and ring post before pulling a wooden table out from beneath the ring.
  • Interference: Candice LeRae stepped in to pull Gargano off Owens’ shoulders, allowing Gargano to drive Owens into the steel steps.
  • Signature Moves: Back inside, Rhodes landed a Beautiful Disaster kick and his signature Bionic Elbow on Owens.

Tower Of Doom & Table Destruction

The contest reached a fever pitch as all three Superstars pulled out their most dangerous maneuvers. Gargano locked Rhodes in the GargaNo Escape, but Owens broke up the submission.

Moments later, Gargano attempted a superkick on Rhodes, but Rhodes dodged—causing Gargano to accidentally knock his wife, Candice LeRae, off the apron and over the announce table. Distracted and horrified, Gargano turned around into a attack from Rhodes that sent him crashing through the table at ringside.

In the ring, the aerial chaos continued:

  1. Owens attempted a super brainbuster on Gargano, but Rhodes scaled the ropes to join in.
  2. Gargano slid underneath for a multi-man powerbomb sequence, turning it into a sunset flip powerbomb on Rhodes.
  3. Owens immediately followed up with a Swanton Bomb, but Gargano superkicked him to keep the match alive.

Randy Orton Intervenes To Cost Rhodes

With all three men exhausted, Rhodes executed a CrossRhodes on Owens and appeared seconds away from punching his ticket to New Orleans.

However, Randy Orton sprinted down to ringside and yanked the referee out of the ring to break the count. A furious brawl broke out between Orton and Rhodes around the ringside area. Rhodes narrowly evaded Orton’s hanging DDT attempt on the table and drove “The Viper” into the ring post.

As Rhodes lined up a punt kick on Orton, Gargano wiped out Rhodes with a suicide dive. Gargano rolled back into the ring and delivered One Final Beat to Owens, but Owens kicked out at two.

Owens quickly caught a charging Gargano with a devastating pop-up powerbomb. With Orton holding Rhodes back outside to prevent him from breaking the pinfall, Owens covered Gargano for the three-count.

The Field Is Set For New Orleans

With this victory, Kevin Owens grabs the final spot in the Men’s Ladder Match. The WWE Money in the Bank broadcast of Event Name on Saturday, October 10, taking place on location at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, will feature:

  • Kevin Owens
  • Bron Breakker
  • Je’Von Evans
