Damian Priest Responds To R-Truth’s Accusation Following SmackDown Injury Scare

Damian Priest has fired back at R-Truth’s humorous accusations following their abrupt match finish on the October 16 episode of WWE SmackDown.

The two veterans squared off on the blue brand, but the bout came to a sudden halt after Truth landed awkwardly while executing a missile dropkick. Out of an abundance of caution regarding Truth’s condition, the referee waved off the match and stopped the contest.

Truth later took to social media to update fans on his recovery, assuring supporters that he was on the mend while jokingly pinning the blame on his opponent:

I AM OK, Thank you ALL for your support, concerns and get well wishes , Wow, It truly feels amazing to feel and be loved I’m grateful for you all. …On 10/16/2026 I almost passed away… Damien Priest tried to kill me,, I didn’t think he was ThAt serious… But ok, l’ll be back

Appearing on WWE Radio’s Off The Ropes, Priest addressed Truth’s online claims and made it unequivocally clear that he bore no responsibility for the mishap:

Can you believe this guy is trying to blame me? I’ve been told that he posted some stupid thing about that, he’s good but that I tried to end his life.

Priest quickly turned the tables on his rival, suggesting that Truth’s own high-risk tactics were the sole cause of the scare:

He tried to end his own just trying to win a match against me. The guy is — it explains who he is.

With any genuine risk of serious injury safely in the rearview mirror, both competitors have leaned heavily into their characters as their rivalry continues to unfold.
