The match card for AEW WrestleDream on Saturday, October 17, took major shape during the October 6 broadcast of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam France in Paris.
Highlighting the additions, Samoa Joe secured his spot as the first competitor to qualify for the inaugural Clockwork Carnage match for the AEW World Championship. Joe earned his entry into the eight-man, two-stage match concept by defeating “Jungle” Jack Perry via pinfall following a Musclebuster.
The Clockwork Carnage match will see AEW World Champion Will Ospreay defend his title against seven challengers. Under the newly unveiled rules, two entrants begin the bout, with additional randomly drawn participants entering every three minutes. Any pinfall or submission during Phase 1 results in immediate elimination. Once the eighth entrant steps into the ring, Phase 2 triggers a strict 15-minute timed sprint where every pinfall or submission counts as one fall, with the highest overall fall count at the 15-minute mark taking home the AEW World Championship.
Beyond the World Title scene, two additional championship contests were officially sanctioned for the Orlando pay-per-view:
AEW World Trios Championship (2-out-of-3 Falls Match)
Champions Swerve Strickland and New Level (Kofi & Austin Creed) will defend their titles against Hangman Page and Brodido (Bandido & Brody King). The match was booked after Page and Strickland brawled at ringside during Bandido’s ROH World Championship match against Kofi. Strickland and New Level previously defeated Page’s coalition at AEW All Out.
AEW Continental Championship
Jon Moxley will defend his title against The Don Callis Family’s Mark Davis. The match was made official after Davis and partner Jake Doyle defeated Moxley and Death Riders teammate Gabe Kidd in tag team action, with Davis pinning Kidd to earn the title shot.
