Former WWE Superstar Sanga, whose real name is Saurav Gurjar, is currently in judicial custody in India after being arrested at Mumbai Airport in connection with a sexual exploitation investigation.
The 42-year-old performer was intercepted by immigration authorities on the night of September 17 upon arriving on a flight from the Middle East. Local police had previously issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Gurjar following a formal complaint filed with the Gachibowli police on August 15 by a 29-year-old woman. Following his interception, officers transferred him to Hyderabad, where a magistrate remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. The criminal allegations remain under investigation and have not been proven in court.
According to police reports, the complainant met Gurjar on Instagram in 2021 before entering into a relationship that spanned both India and the United States. The woman alleged that despite Gurjar disclosing he was already married, he repeatedly promised to grant her “wife-like rights” and eventually build a life together.
The complainant further alleged that Gurjar persuaded her to leave her job in the United States and move to Hyderabad to start a business venture—a plan she claims never materialized. She stated that whenever she brought up the topic of marriage, Gurjar would suddenly cut off communication and block her across social platforms.
Based on her statements, authorities registered a case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means or false promises. Gachibowli Inspector K. Saidulu confirmed that immigration officials detained Gurjar at Mumbai Airport pursuant to the LOC before Hyderabad police brought him before the court.
Prior to his professional wrestling career, Gurjar achieved widespread fame as an actor in India, portraying Bhima in the TV series Mahabharat and appearing as Zor in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva. He later signed with WWE, competing on the WWE NXT brand under the ring name Sanga. He eventually aligned with Veer and Jinder Mahal as part of the Indus Sher faction before being released from his contract in April 2024.
