Former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe made his long-awaited return to All Elite Wrestling during the AEW All Out Tailgate Brawl pre-show, immediately confronting “Jungle” Jack Perry following his victory over Katsuyori Shibata.
The return marks Joe’s first appearance on AEW television since May 2026, when he stepped away from the ring to pursue outside Hollywood acting projects.
Tense Standoff Ends In A Brutal Headbutt
Perry spent weeks calling out Joe, leading to a match against Opps member Katsuyori Shibata at the Allstate Arena pre-show:
- Shibata Defeated: Perry secured a hard-fought victory over Shibata to start the Tailgate Brawl broadcast.
- Callout & Standoff: Following the win, Perry grabbed a microphone to demand Joe face him. HOOK, Anthony Bowens, and Action Andretti filed out onto the stage.
- The Entrance: Joe’s signature theme music echoed through the arena, bringing “The Samoan Submission Machine” down to the ring to face Perry face-to-face.
- Handshake Denied: Perry offered a handshake. Joe initially walked away, but when Perry spun him around to demand respect, Joe leveled him with a stiff headbutt to the jaw before walking off.
The segment leaves little doubt that Samoa Joe and Jack Perry are on a collision course for a high-profile singles clash, possibly as early as AEW Grand Slam: France on October 6.
