The Vision was out in full force on the September 7 episode of WWE RAW, but one important figure was noticeably absent from the ring—Paul Heyman.
While Heyman has been an integral part of The Vision since its inception under Seth Rollins, recent weeks have seen him retreat further into the shadows as Bron Breakker assumes total leadership of the group. Following Breakker and Bronson Reed’s beatdown over Oba Femi at Sunday Night’s Main Event, Breakker once again led the faction out to the ring on RAW, leaving Heyman on the sidelines.
According to WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, that absence actually elevates the entire stable.
Bully Ray On The Power Of Star Distraction
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray broke down why the current five-person visual of The Vision without Heyman standing in the center of the ring resonates more strongly with viewers.
“I liked The Vision standing in the ring a lot more without Paul Heyman. There was something about Paul not being there, and I think it goes back to star power. Without Paul there, I’m not distracted by Paul, who is the bigger star. I’m not waiting for Paul to speak. Now I’m waiting for The Vision to speak for themselves. I’m concentrating on the five of them.”
Ray noted that while Heyman’s legendary status is undeniable, his absence allows Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and Maxxine Dupri to command the spotlight entirely on their own merits.
A Fragile Dynamic For The Faction
Bully Ray praised the current iteration of the group, though he acknowledged that bad luck and injuries have constantly shifted The Vision’s dynamic over time.
“The five of them on their own really resonated with me. And I like what they had to say. And I liked this version as of right now. And I say as of right now, because as we’ve seen in the past, anything can happen with it.”
While Heyman was absent from the opening in-ring promo segment, he was not completely off the broadcast. Heyman featured in a backstage segment later in the night, prodding Breakker behind closed doors to finish off Oba Femi once and for all.
Badrose Thorns
Bully Ray hits the nail on the head regarding Paul Heyman’s presence in a faction. Heyman is such a generational promo and personality that any ring he stands in naturally revolves around him. Giving Bron Breakker, Austin Theory, and Logan Paul the mic without ‘The Wiseman’ acting as a safety net forces them to sink or swim on their own star power. Keeping Heyman behind closed doors as a backstage manipulator while the athletes command the ring gives The Vision a much leaner, hungrier dynamic.
