The NXT Tag Team Championship changed hands at NXT Heatwave as The Vanity Projects (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) defeated Myles Borne and Tavion Heights to reclaim the titles.
The physical encounter saw the challengers utilize constant isolation tactics, outside distractions from manager Jackson Lockwood, and opportunistic teamwork to regain the gold.
Isolating The Champions Through Faction Interference
The match opened with fast-paced exchanges between Borne and Baylor before Heights tagged in to showcase his explosive amateur wrestling background, hoisting Smokes up and dropping him to the floor with a belly-to-belly suplex.
Outside the ring, Lockwood provided key coverage for Baylor and Smokes to regroup. Returning to the apron, The Vanity Projects seized momentum by targeting Borne, trapping him in their corner with rapid tags and targeting his lower back.
Heights eventually cut off the sustained beatdown with a fiery hot tag, wiping out both challengers with heavy suplexes and locking Baylor in an ankle lock. However, Lockwood escalated the interference by pulling the ropes and leaping onto the apron, distracting Heights long enough for Smokes to chop block his knee and regain control.
Chaotic Finishing Sequence Leads To Title Change
The closing stretch escalated into rapid back-and-forth action from both sides. Borne made a desperate tag back into the match, connecting with a high knee and partnering with Heights to land stereo belly-to-belly suplexes followed by a powerbomb and dropkick combination on Baylor.
Down the stretch, the action spilled to the outside as Heights collided with Smokes, sending both men crashing over the top rope. Inside the ring, Borne connected with a suplex on Baylor, but the challenger fired back with a decisive running knee.
Capitalizing on the chaos, Baylor shoved Borne directly into Heights, knocking his partner off the apron to cut off any chance of a tag. Smokes and Baylor immediately capitalized, executing their double-team combination on a isolated Borne to score the pinfall victory.
With the win, The Vanity Projects begin their second reign as NXT Tag Team Champions, bringing an end to the title run of Borne and Heights.
