Johnny Gargano Contract Status Clarified Following Online Departure Rumors

Johnny Gargano remains firmly under contract with WWE despite intense social media speculation surrounding his status with the company over the weekend.

Rumors began circulating after Gargano posted a captionless video clip on social media showcasing his surprise return to WWE from four years ago, concluding with him addressing the crowd. The post quickly surpassed one million views, leading fans to question if his WWE tenure was coming to an end. Speculation escalated further when claims emerged that Gargano had altered his X bio, removed references to WWE, and opened his availability for independent dates. However, subsequent reports clarified that his bio has remained unchanged since 2021.

Internal Roster Status and On-Screen Storylines

Reports indicate that Johnny Gargano remains listed under contract with WWE on internal documentation, confirming no changes have been made to his status.

Gargano has recently been involved in a SmackDown angle portraying him in a state of deep depression. His most recent appearance on television occurred during the August 7 broadcast of SmackDown in a backstage segment alongside Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk, Sami Zayn, and Candice LeRae. During the angle, Punk teased offering Gargano and LeRae a title opportunity before granting Zayn a championship match.

Personal Matter Outside of Television

Off-screen, Gargano recently shared that his 84-year-old father is battling Stage 4 lung and prostate cancer. Gargano has not indicated whether this family situation has influenced his current scheduling or absence from live television tapings.
