Speculation escalated further when claims emerged that Gargano had altered his X bio, removed references to WWE, and opened his availability for independent dates. However, subsequent reports clarified that his bio has remained unchanged since 2021.

Reports indicate that Johnny Gargano remains listed under contract with WWE on internal documentation, confirming no changes have been made to his status.
Gargano has recently been involved in a SmackDown angle portraying him in a state of deep depression.
