Brie Bella Faces Severe Gut Health Issue Amid Recovery From Broken Scapula

WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella is dealing with another major physical setback, revealing that while she continues to heal from a fractured shoulder blade, her gut health has rapidly declined to alarming levels.

Opening up on a recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show alongside guest Scarlett, Bella shared that severe, sudden pain in her abdomen has occasionally forced her to her knees, prompting an upcoming visit to a medical specialist.

Severe Abdominal Pain and Declining Test Results

Bella acknowledged that while she has previously joked about her digestive issues on the podcast, recent medical testing highlighted a far more serious condition.

“So on this show I’ve been very open with my gut journey and, um, it’s crazy because, you know, obviously like I’ll make jokes here and there like shitting my pants in an ambulance and all the different things. But when it comes down to it, it’s how serious the condition of my gut.”

Despite previous tests ruling out celiac disease, Bella noted that cross-contamination—particularly involving gluten—triggers debilitating physical pain.

“But they pretty much told me like cross contamination, especially with gluten, I just get so ill and very like, you know, I might race to the bathroom, but it’s not as serious as like, you know, when you and I were talking, like the pain. I’ll like drop to my knees, I will be in so much pain. I mean, I feel like something’s coming outta me.”

During her latest round of bloodwork and health screenings, doctors noted that while her thyroid and liver function looked exceptional, her specific gut health score deteriorated from a seven to a 10.

Doctors Investigating Possible Autoimmune Disease

The sudden drop in her gut health score has led medical professionals to schedule Bella for a specialist consultation to determine the underlying cause, with an autoimmune condition among the possibilities being explored.

“They’re like, your thyroid looks amazing. They’re like, my liver looks incredible. They’re like, even like when we’re looking at all your levels are like, this is a healthy woman, but for some reason your gut was at a seven and now it’s at a 10. So now we have to go see a specialist. So I have to see a specialist next week and I’m like, what is going on with my gut?”

Addressing her audience, Bella urged listeners to take gut health seriously, emphasizing that internal issues can persist even when someone appears physically fit on the outside.

“Now the only thing that they brought up to me is maybe, you know, and I might have an autoimmune disease that, you know, hits the gut. And this is what I wanted all our listeners to know. So when you’re listening to Scarlett, take out those pens and papers, write everything she’s saying down. Because if you don’t take care of your gut and it’s declining more and more—’cause look it, I am, look healthy. I look—you see me and you’re like, that’s a healthy woman, but my gut is not—that can wake up cancer, that can wake up diseases and then you’re in trouble. So that’s why I’m like so serious about getting on track.”

Dual Recovery Following SummerSlam Scapula Fracture

The gut health emergency comes while Bella is already sidelined from in-ring action after sustaining a broken scapula at SummerSlam 2026 earlier this month.

Bella recently began physical therapy and is undergoing periodic medical imaging to monitor how the fracture is healing, with doctors attempting to let the bone mend naturally without surgical intervention.
