WWE NXT is getting a major streaming expansion. Beginning Tuesday, August 4, the brand will officially stream live on the ESPN App as part of a new agreement between ESPN and The CW Network. The deal brings CW Sports programming — including NXT — to ESPN Unlimited subscribers, adding more than 800 hours of live sports content each year.
The rollout begins August 4 at 8 p.m. ET, when NXT airs live on both The CW Network and the ESPN App. Viewers with an ESPN Unlimited subscription will be able to watch the show on mobile devices, connected TVs and any platform that supports the app. NXT will continue airing on free broadcast television while gaining a much larger digital footprint.
The partnership also includes NXT Premium Live Events. One of the first major shows added to the ESPN App will be NXT Heatwave, streaming live from Texas on Sunday, August 30 at 3 p.m. ET. ESPN and The CW confirmed that all CW Sports programming will still air live on The CW while simultaneously streaming through ESPN Unlimited.
“More than 800 annual hours of CW Sports will be broadcast live on The CW Network as well as stream live on the ESPN App for viewers with an ESPN Unlimited subscription plan.”
NXT expands its reach with ESPN Unlimited
Subscribers can purchase ESPN Unlimited directly or activate it through participating TV and mobile providers. Fans who use the Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited bundle will also gain access to CW Sports programming through Disney+. That means NXT will now sit alongside NASCAR, college football, basketball, bull riding, volleyball and bowling inside the ESPN App.
For WWE, the move gives NXT a significantly wider streaming presence without disrupting its established Tuesday night home. Weekly episodes and Premium Live Events will now be available across multiple platforms, making it easier for fans to watch the brand wherever they are.
With the new agreement kicking off August 4, NXT becomes the latest WWE property to expand its reach — and ESPN becomes another major home for WWE content moving forward.
