Jonathan Coachman didn’t hold back after the July 27 episode of WWE RAW. The former WWE announcer unloaded on the Ryan Garcia–Judgment Day segment, calling it the worst thing he’s ever seen in more than a decade of covering the company. His reaction quickly became as talked‑about as the segment itself.
Garcia made his WWE debut by aligning with The Judgment Day, smashing Joe Hendry with a guitar during an in‑ring concert and helping Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh beat down Hendry and Danhausen ahead of SummerSlam. Coachman wasn’t impressed. He took to Twitter after the show and made it clear he thought the entire thing was a disaster.
“I can confidently say that, in my entire time covering WWE—which has been over a decade—whether it was on my two hit shows or talking about it with my friends, I have never, ever seen something as bad as I saw tonight. That… I think I kind of threw up in my mouth just thinking about it.”
Coachman then listed everyone he felt was hurt by the segment. He started with the commentary team and ended with the performers in the ring.
“I feel bad for Michael Cole for having to put it over, Corey Graves for faking like he’s putting it over, Joe Hendry because that’s what they’re giving him after waiting so long to get called up, and the poor three little guys who just wanted a payday.”
Coachman says Dominik Mysterio suffered the most
The harshest criticism was saved for Dominik Mysterio. Coachman argued that Dominik went from being one of WWE’s hottest heels to being stuck in a storyline he believes has dragged the star backward.
“The one I feel the worst for was the most over heel in WWE eight months ago—Dirty Dom. Now he’s been relegated to a one‑on‑one match in an angle they’re shoving down our throats with Danhausen. Dirty Dom was an absolute legend in the making, and that’s what you’re going to put him in tonight?”
Coachman ended his rant by making it clear he wasn’t exaggerating.
“That was the worst segment I have ever seen. If all you WWE fans out there want to call me a hater, then call me a hater. Because if that’s hating, then I don’t know where we’ve gone, because that was… atrocious.”
Whether fans agree with Coachman or not, the segment has become one of RAW’s most polarizing moments. Some enjoyed the over‑the‑top comedy. Others echoed Coachman’s frustration. Either way, Ryan Garcia’s WWE debut has sparked a debate that isn’t fading anytime soon.
