A new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select suggests WWE has a clear internal direction for most of this weekend’s SummerSlam results — though two major matches remain completely undecided. With the event just days away, the backstage outlook offers insight into how creative currently sees the show unfolding.
According to the report, the expectation within WWE is that CM Punk will leave Minneapolis still holding the Undisputed WWE Championship. Roman Reigns is also expected to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, keeping both top titles stable heading into the fall.
The same source says several other names are sitting in strong positions. Oba Femi is currently favored to defeat Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell, while GUNTHER, Trick Williams and Chad Gable are also expected to walk out with victories based on the latest internal discussions.
However, WWE does not have the entire card locked in. Two matches are reportedly causing the biggest debate behind the scenes. The Women’s Championship Ladder Match is described as “too close to call,” with no clear favorite emerging as creative continues to weigh its options. The same goes for Finn Bálor vs. Sami Zayn, which is said to be completely up in the air.
Nothing is finalized, and plans can shift before bell time. But as of now, WWE appears confident about most of the weekend’s outcomes — while two of SummerSlam’s most important matches remain genuine question marks.

Lesnar vs. Femi adds another layer of unpredictability. The two men are tied 1–1 in their rivalry, with Lesnar winning at WrestleMania 42 and Femi evening the score at Clash in Italy. Femi earned a world title shot by winning the King of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions, but he turned it down to pursue Lesnar instead, choosing the fight over the championship.
With internal expectations leaning toward Femi, and two major matches still undecided, SummerSlam is shaping up to deliver a mix of predictable outcomes and genuine surprises.
