Mike Santana Finished Up with TNA After Slammiversary

Mike Santana’s run with TNA Wrestling appears to have come to an end following Slammiversary, where he competed in the main event for the TNA World Championship. According to PWInsider, Santana is not scheduled for the company’s upcoming television tapings in Albany, New York this Wednesday and Thursday, signaling the conclusion of his current run.

At Slammiversary, Santana challenged Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship but came up short in the headline bout. The match marked a significant moment in his career, closing out a notable chapter that saw him rise as a top singles star within the promotion.

Reports indicate that Santana’s contract with TNA is set to expire in the coming days, although an exact date has not been confirmed. The expectation is that his deal will run out in mid-July, which would make him a free agent shortly after.

During his time in TNA, Santana established himself as a leading figure on the roster. He became a two-time TNA World Champion and shifted his career path by breaking away from his tag team background to succeed as a singles competitor. His personal journey has also drawn attention, as he has spoken openly about becoming sober and refocusing both his life and career.

Santana addressed his future in a recent interview ahead of Slammiversary, where he discussed his mindset regarding the next step in his career.

“As far as the future goes, man, like I’m the type that growth is part of my life and I feel like if there’s an opportunity for me to grow, then that’s what I’m going to do,” he said. “Whether it’s at TNA, whether — anywhere, anywhere. For me, if you’re not growing in this business, then what are you doing? If you’re not trying to progress in this business, then what are we doing? And at the end of the day, like I need to show my daughter that there’s levels, right? There’s levels to this. And also my dad used to always say the top of one mountain is the bottom of another, right? So keep climbing, keep climbing.”

While nothing has been officially confirmed, Santana has been linked to a possible move to WWE. He has made appearances connected to the TNA–NXT partnership over the past year, and earlier this month, WrestleVotes reported that WWE has interest in bringing him to the main roster before the end of 2026, though no brand has been specified.

Santana previously competed in AEW before departing in 2024 and beginning this latest chapter with TNA. With his contract now nearing its expiration, his next move remains a topic of interest.
