Matt Hardy Says TNA Cutting Costs, Dismisses WWE Buyout Rumors

Matt Hardy has addressed the recent wave of changes within TNA Wrestling, offering his perspective on the company’s direction following multiple departures, including Tommy Dreamer.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy pushed back against claims that TNA is facing financial trouble. Instead, he described the situation as a calculated effort to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.

“We’re actually going in the opposite direction. They’re actually saving money,” Hardy said, responding to speculation about the company’s stability. He added that many talents choosing to leave are doing so because they are being offered per-night deals rather than full-time contracts.

“The reason a lot of these people want to leave is because they’re being offered per-night deals, and it is what it is.”

Matt Hardy Explains Carlos Silva’s Approach

Hardy also commented on the role of TNA President Carlos Silva, explaining that Silva’s priorities differ from traditional wrestling management approaches.

“Carlos, his job, love him or hate him, is to streamline money and make the company profitable and maximize profit as much as you can.”

He noted that Silva does not operate with what many would consider a “wrestling mindset,” particularly when it comes to talent relations.

“He doesn’t have a wrestling mindset at all… If someone goes like, ‘hey, if I can’t get a full-time deal, I want to go,’ he doesn’t have a wrestling mindset at all… he goes, ‘okay, if this isn’t working for you and you don’t want to be here, I’m not going to hold you up. I’m going to let you go.’ Which is definitely not the wrestling mentality, not something that Vince would do, not something that TKO would do.”

Hardy Addresses WWE Acquisition Speculation

Hardy also responded to ongoing rumors that WWE could be looking to acquire TNA. From his viewpoint, that scenario is not currently in play.

“So financially, TNA is okay. We’re not about to be bought by WWE right now. I know that’s the rumor. I think down the road in a few years that [could] happen, whatever. But right now that is not happening.”

His comments suggest that while changes within TNA have sparked speculation, the company’s leadership is focused on restructuring and profitability rather than preparing for a sale.
