Matt Hardy has shared new details regarding season seven of Dark Side of the Ring, including information about the upcoming three-part documentary centered on TNA Wrestling and Jeff Jarrett.
The new season of the Vice TV series is scheduled to premiere on July 7.
Dark Side Of The Ring season seven details
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy revealed that both he and Jeff Hardy participated in lengthy interviews for the TNA-focused documentary.
According to Hardy, the project will largely present Jarrett’s story through a redemption-style lens.
“In speaking with Jeff Jarrett, had a great conversation with him a couple months ago, and he told me they were talking about doing this, and they’re doing a Dark Side of the Ring, which is kind of a redemption story, which is very cool.”
Hardy explained that the documentary covers Jarrett’s personal hardships, including the death of his first wife Jill and the loss of his longtime friend and tag team partner Owen Hart.
The project will also reportedly explore Jarrett’s battle with addiction and his eventual recovery.
“Go into everything that Jeff Jarrett has been through, losing his friend Owen, losing his first wife, how his life has been.”
Hardy added that the documentary also discusses TNA’s current position within the wrestling industry and presents the promotion in a more positive light than some past retrospectives.
“Because not only did we talk about how Jeff Jarrett came out the other end in a much better place and how he has gained everyone’s respect from what he has done, we talked about the condition of TNA right now, how it is in a good place and it is actually thriving on AMC.”
Hardy further stated that he believes the TNA documentary may feature the biggest collection of star power ever assembled for a Dark Side of the Ring episode.
He noted that both he and Jeff Hardy were interviewed for more than two hours each.
The first two parts of the three-part documentary will air on July 7, with the final installment airing the following week.
Vice TV also revealed the full lineup of subjects planned for season seven, including:
- Paul Orndorff
- Big Boss Man
- Missy Hyatt
- Zach Gowen
- The Renegade
- The infamous 2005 Samoa Joe vs. Necro Butcher match from IWA-MS
The TNA and Jeff Jarrett documentary is expected to headline the new season.
