Blake Monroe Makes WWE SmackDown Debut in Backstage Segment

Blake Monroe has officially made her WWE television debut, appearing during the May 22 episode of SmackDown in a brief backstage interaction that set the tone for her main roster arrival.

The segment saw Chelsea Green walking backstage when she encountered Monroe. The former NXT Women’s North American Champion introduced herself and referenced seeing Green earlier in the night, adding that she wished she had not. Monroe then walked off, leaving Green confused before the moment quickly escalated.

Nia Jax suddenly stormed into the scene and slammed Green into nearby boxes, with Lash Legend joining in to mock her. WWE officials rushed in to break up the situation as the chaos unfolded, while Monroe was no longer involved following her initial introduction.

Monroe’s debut comes after weeks of anticipation. Vignettes promoting her arrival had been airing on SmackDown since WrestleMania 42, but she had yet to appear on television while several other NXT call-ups were introduced. A recent report from PWInsider indicated her debut was expected before the end of the month, and that timeline has now been met.

She had already competed in a dark match on the previous week’s SmackDown, where she defeated Jordynne Grace, signaling that her transition to the main roster was imminent.

Before signing with WWE in 2025, Monroe was known as Mariah May. She made her NXT debut in June and quickly rose through the ranks. By the end of the year, she captured the NXT Women’s North American Championship before eventually dropping the title to Thea Hail.

In the final stretch of her NXT run, Monroe was involved in a feud with Tatum Paxley over the championship. Their rivalry culminated in a coffin match on the April 14 episode of NXT, where Monroe came up short.

Her SmackDown debut marks the next step in her WWE career as she joins the growing list of recent NXT call-ups.
