AEW Dynamite and Collision Three-Hour Special Sees Slight Viewership Increase on May 6

Wrestlenomics reports that the AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision three-hour special aired on May 20 averaged 513,000 viewers on TBS, marking a slight increase compared to the previous similar broadcast format, which drew 509,500 viewers.

The combined broadcast also saw a modest improvement in the key 18–49 demographic, averaging a 0.09 rating, up from the 0.08 rating recorded by the prior three-hour special. The show was structured in two distinct blocks, with the first two hours branded as AEW Dynamite and the final hour presented as AEW Collision.

The Dynamite portion of the broadcast delivered the strongest performance of the night, averaging 613,000 viewers along with a 0.11 rating in the 18–49 demo. This opening segment maintained a stronger audience lead-in before viewership tapered in the later hour.

The Collision-branded third hour saw a notable drop in audience retention, averaging 413,000 viewers and a 0.06 rating in the key demographic. The decline between the two blocks reflects the continued challenge AEW faces when extending programming into longer multi-hour formats, where viewer drop-off becomes more pronounced in later segments.

Despite the hour-to-hour decline, the overall three-hour special remained relatively consistent with recent performance trends, showing only marginal movement compared to the prior edition. The data suggests that AEW’s expanded format continues to stabilize around the 500,000-viewer range, with stronger retention during Dynamite-branded segments compared to Collision-branded hours.

The May 20 special is part of AEW’s ongoing use of extended broadcast events on TBS, which allow the company to showcase additional talent and storylines within a single primetime window.
