Brody King Absence Explained – The real reason Brody King missed the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite has come to light, and it differs from early claims about network involvement. Initial speculation suggested outside pressure, but updated information points to travel arrangements as the key factor.
According to PWInsider, King was not planned for a live appearance on the broadcast from Toyota Arena in Ontario. Instead, he and several others departed from Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday night for Australia. The trip was tied to his scheduled role at AEW Grand Slam Australia, where he is set to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship.
Earlier reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer claimed that Warner Bros. Discovery had blocked King from appearing. The story referenced chants from the previous week and suggested the company wanted to avoid controversy involving Donald Trump during a reported acquisition process connected to Netflix.
Warner Bros. Discovery later denied any role in the situation. After that statement, Meltzer issued a correction addressing his earlier report.
“Those at AEW have said nobody from WBD asked them not to use Brody King on last night’s show and this was just how it was booked to only use him in a video package. We had heard over the weekend that there were concerns about how much pub the situation had gotten from the WBD side, but those at AEW said that they were not told not to put him on the show. So this corrects the report from last night. It had been a topic of discussion over the weekend.”
King ultimately appeared only in a video package promoting his upcoming title match. The situation appears to have been a matter of scheduling tied to travel rather than outside interference.
