The promotional war between AEW and WWE is expanding into international territory, with AEW dispatching a stacked lineup of talent to CMLL in Mexico City this weekend to directly counter-program AAA TripleMania 34.
With WWE having acquired AAA in 2025, CMLL’s Sunday card at the historic Arena México will go head-to-head against the second night of TripleMania, leveraging AEW’s strategic alliance with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre.
Stacked Sunday Card At Arena México
CMLL officially announced several high-profile interpromotional matches for the Sunday event:
- First-Time Singles Match: PAC will collide with Mascara Dorada in a highly anticipated single’s contest.
- Tag Team Action: “Speedball” Mike Bailey joins forces with Místico to face Averno and AEW TNT Champion Kevin Knight.
- Lucha Libre Showcase: Bandido and Komander unite to battle Soberano Jr. and Titán.
- Three-Way Tag Match: Former AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion take on STARDOM’s Maika & Starlight Kid and CMLL’s Olympia & Persephone.
- NJPW Integration: Zack Sabre Jr. and Bad Dude Tito meet Hechicero and Esfinge.
Jeff Jarrett Challenges Blue Panther For 93rd Aniversario
In related news, AEW veteran Jeff Jarrett is set to return to Arena México for a marquee singles match against 65-year-old Mexican wrestling legend Blue Panther.
Appearing on CMLL Informa, Jarrett officially laid down the challenge for CMLL’s biggest event of the year, the 93rd Aniversario show on September 18:
“That’s right, on the 93rd Aniversario show, the granddaddy of them all, the biggest one of the year, I’m here to challenge you, the living legend, mano a mano, Blue Panther. Jeff Jarrett vs. Blue Panther.”
Blue Panther accepted the match shortly after, setting up a historic veteran showdown in Mexico City.

Sending AEW stars to support CMLL opposite AAA TripleMania 34 is a bold counter-programming move, but it shows how intense the global territory battle between AEW and WWE has become. Ever since WWE acquired AAA, Mexico City has become a major battleground. Running PAC vs. Mascara Dorada and pairing Mike Bailey with Místico gives CMLL serious star power, but going head-to-head with night two of TripleMania is a massive test of whether the AEW-CMLL alliance can actually dent WWE’s international footprint.
