Booker T Explains Why Powerhouse Hobbs Would Thrive in WWE – Rumors continue to circulate about Powerhouse Hobbs potentially leaving AEW and making a move to WWE, and now Booker T has added his voice to the conversation.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, the WWE commentator and two-time Hall of Famer shared personal insight into Hobbs’ journey and made it clear he has been a believer in the powerhouse star for years.
Booker T said Hobbs is someone he has consistently supported long before Hobbs became a featured name on national television. “Will Hobbs is a guy that I’ve been pushing for for quite some time. As far as this guy, all he needs is a shot and an opportunity, and he definitely can, you know, take this business by storm,” Booker said.
He went on to recall Hobbs regularly approaching him backstage while trying to break into the industry. “I tell you a little story about Will Hobbs, you know, show up at the arenas, show up at the arenas, and Will would be there waiting, you know, Uncle Book, let me holler. And, you know, he would always run up on me. And man would always talk, and I would always give Will, you know, advice, because he said, I’m trying, man, I’m trying to get in. Man, who did I talk to?”
According to Booker, his message to Hobbs was always about patience and persistence. “I say, bro. You know, it’s just not like that. I say, but trust me, just keep doing what you’re doing, and don’t stop. And trust me, it’s gonna happen for you. And then, boom, he show up in AEW and become Powerhouse Hobbs, and the rest is history.”
With speculation now turning toward WWE as a possible next destination, Booker T believes Hobbs would transition smoothly if the move happens. “I look at the growth of. Of course, Will Hobbs, as far as just the evolution of Hobbs, you know, from that kid I was talking to, to this grown man that that’s out there, that’s beast as most that’s out there right now, talking about no bread, no water, just meat, that this dude Will Hobbs,” Booker said. “So no, I’m looking forward to if he does make that step over to the WWE, I think he’ll be a fitting addition. I think he’ll fit right in, and I think he’ll make money moves right off the bat.”
While there has been no official confirmation regarding Hobbs’ AEW status or any WWE interest, Booker T’s comments underscore how highly regarded Hobbs is by respected veterans within the industry. If Hobbs does become available, his combination of size, intensity, and experience on national television would make him a notable free agent to watch.
