Booker T Open to Returning to WWE SmackDown Commentary – Booker T has revealed that he is open to making more appearances on WWE SmackDown commentary following his recent one-night return to the blue brand.
With regular SmackDown commentators Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett unavailable — Tessitore covering ESPN College Football and Barrett on a planned break — Michael Cole and Corey Graves stepped in. However, WWE’s packed schedule saw Graves also call WWE-AAA Worlds Collide alongside John Bradshaw Layfield and Konnan. This created another shift, with NXT’s commentary team of Booker T and Vic Joseph filling in on SmackDown.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker reflected on the experience and the wave of nostalgia he felt upon arriving at the Norfolk Scope in Virginia. “What’s crazy was when I pulled up in Norfolk at the Scope [Arena], you park right up underneath. I pulled in and memories just flooded back to all the times that I had been in that Norfolk Scope back in WCW so many times. So many times making that walk and the fans are always right there to greet you. They’re looking for pictures, autographs, and whatnot. It was just amazing.”
Although he has often said he was not interested in returning to main roster commentary, Booker admitted that the SmackDown experience may have changed his mind. “It was amazing being a part of SmackDown, one night only. It was amazing to be a part of the broadcast for one night. Me and Vic, we had so much freaking fun. That two hours went by so fast. I always said I never really want to do the main roster commentary anymore. A lot of people probably don’t want to see me, but I had such a great time, me and Vic on Friday night. Hopefully I get a chance to do it again sometime.”
