Nick Aldis Reaches Out to Drew McIntyre Ahead of SmackDown

Nick Aldis Reaches Out to Drew McIntyre Ahead of SmackDown – SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is attempting to mend fences with Drew McIntyre as WWE heads into tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Aldis has publicly extended an invitation to McIntyre, offering him the opportunity to appear on the show and discuss a possible return to the blue brand following his recent suspension.

McIntyre was suspended on the November 7 episode of SmackDown after getting involved in the main event match between Cody Rhodes and Aleister Black. The interference prompted Aldis to take disciplinary action, effectively removing McIntyre from SmackDown programming. While McIntyre’s absence from WWE television was brief due to his involvement at Survivor Series, the suspension itself has remained in place.

At Survivor Series, Paul Heyman selected McIntyre as a member of his WarGames team, allowing McIntyre to compete despite being barred from SmackDown. That appearance, however, did not overturn Aldis’ original ruling, leaving McIntyre’s status on Friday nights unresolved.

Ahead of tonight’s show, Aldis took to social media to address the situation directly and explain his efforts behind the scenes. “As you know, Drew McIntyre was recently suspended from SmackDown,” Aldis said. “And despite what Drew might think, since that time, I’ve been working tirelessly to try to reinstate him and bring him back where he belongs.”

Aldis went on to say that communication with McIntyre has broken down entirely. “That’s become increasingly difficult this week. Given the fact that Drew won’t return my calls, has not returned emails, has not returned text messages. So he’s left me no choice but to use this platform to address him directly and say Drew, consider this an official invitation to come here tonight so that we can discuss a resolution together to bring you back to SmackDown.”

Whether McIntyre will respond to the invitation remains to be seen, but Aldis’ message suggests that a path back to SmackDown is being offered, provided the two can reach an agreement.

Beyond the McIntyre situation, tonight’s SmackDown features a full lineup of advertised matches and segments:
