Jack Perry Injury Scare Update After AEW Dynamite Match – There was a tense moment on AEW Dynamite earlier this week that left fans concerned about the health of one of the promotion’s top stars. During Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming, Jack Perry went one-on-one with Kazuchika Okada in a Gold League match as part of the ongoing AEW Continental Classic. Early in the contest, Perry took a frightening bump to the outside, immediately grabbing his ankle and selling visible pain. The sudden moment caused concern both in the arena and among viewers watching at home.
For several moments, it appeared the match might be in jeopardy. Perry’s reaction led many fans to believe he had suffered a serious injury, especially given the timing within the tournament. Perry was only recently added to the Continental Classic after replacing Darby Allin, who was forced out of the tournament due to an injury suffered the previous week. Losing another competitor under similar circumstances would have been a major setback for the Gold League.
Despite the scare, Perry was able to continue the match and finish it without further visible issues. At the time, some viewers believed the ankle sell may have been storyline-related, designed to play into a later moment in the match. However, new information has clarified that the situation was far more real than it appeared.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez provided an update on Perry’s condition and explained what happened behind the scenes. “Jack Perry is replacing Darby. Who got injured in the match with Kevin Knight, and he was replaced by Jack,” Alvarez said. “And Jack almost got hurt in this match because he did spot early where he did that topee and sold his ankle. I thought, well, this is a work to set up something later in the match. And then, the whole match goes, and it sets up nothing in the match. It was like nothing to do with his ankle.”
Alvarez then revealed that Perry’s concern was genuine. “Apparently, he actually hurt his ankle on that dive. And I guess he told people that he was he was afraid, like this might be broken. But he gutted it out and apparently felt better later. And now it’s looking like he’s gonna be fine. But we almost had this Darby Allin spot, almost took out two people.”
Fortunately for AEW and the Continental Classic, Perry’s condition improved as the match went on, and there are no indications that he will miss time. The situation serves as another reminder of how quickly circumstances can change in a demanding tournament environment.
